More and more, there is talk of PCR plastics and how they can have quite an impact on your real-time experiments. But first, what do we mean by PCR plastics? They are the plates, tubes, caps, and seals you use for your PCR/qPCR experiments. They are generally not perceived as being important and are often overlooked – you just use what you have in your lab. However, the quality of the plastics you use can indirectly influence the sensitivity and reproducibility of your experiments and should not be underestimated. Next time you’re setting up a real-time experiment, spend some time thinking about the following and choose your PCR plastics wisely.
