The Fraser Laboratory in the Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Biology at UC Davis studies protein translation mechanisms by purifying diverse ribosomal proteins and reconstructing the translation complex in vitro. The lab utilized Bio-Rad’s NGC system to overcome specific purification difficulties with their protein while beta-testing the equipment. The NGC system enabled the group to increase their throughput by 25% and also saved substantial training time.

This year the California Separation Science Society will present its annual Scientific Achievement Award to Professor Stellan Hjertén of Uppsala University. The award dinner will be held November 3, 2011 at the Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square.

The C-96 autosampler improves the efficiency of protein purification workflows by enabling automated sample application. The straightforward tray designs are easy to use; the standard tray accommodates 84 sample vials (5 ml each) plus three additional vials (10 ml each) for mixing and dilution protocols.

Nuvia S media is a high-capacity strong cation exchanger (CEX) developed to operate over a range of experimental conditions, allowing scientists to scale up from laboratory- to process-scale more quickly and easily. Our data demonstrate that the high capacity and superb purification of Nuvia S media can significantly improve productivity by offering the robustness, capacity, and speed for processing large load volumes with smaller columns and less buffer consumption.
